Certified Home Inspector

Rasmussen Certified Inspections LLC is a small operation that is dedicated to providing a thorough home inspection for clients in the Western Iowa area. We will not rush through your inspection. Try and plan to meet after the inspection to review the inspection report so I can point out items found during the inspection. If you are unable to meet, no problem, as our report is very detailed, and we can have a call to review it. We believe that a picture is worth a thousand words, and we will provide as many photos as possible, for your understanding, in a detailed online, or printed report.

Buying a new home is one of the most exciting, but stressful time of a person's life. A home inspection by a certified professional will help you with your upcoming investment. Home inspections are not to defer buyers away from a house they love, but to inform home buyers what to expect after purchasing a home.

Commonly Asked Questions
Question: What all do you inspect during a home inspection? 
Answer: A standard home inspection covers a visual inspection of the roof down to the foundation. The list is very comprehensive. For a detailed list of what is and is not covered, click here. A wood destroying insect(termite) or sewer scope is not part of a standard home inspection, but can be added. 
Question: Can you estimate what year the roof was replaced. 
Answer: As a home inspector, I am not able to estimate the age of the roof covering. Shingles are rated in classes, which lower rated classes could deteriorate faster than higher rated singles, which is outside the scope of a home inspection. As a home inspector, I would note any type of damage or wear in the roof covering. 
Question: Do you give price estimates on repairs?
Answer: I do not give price estimates for repairs. Per Act SF460, a home inspector shall not give repair estimates for defects noted in a home inspection. 
Question: Are you certified to do home inspections?
Answer: Yes, I am certified to do home inspections through the International Association of Certified Home Inspectors. In 2025, Iowa passed the Act SF460 that a home inspector must be certified by a credible association. 
Question: Do you inspect for mold?
Answer: I do not inspect for mold. The only way to know for sure if something is mold is to have samples sent in for testing, which is outside the scope of a home inspection. If I see something that appears to be mold, I will note it to be further evaluated. 
Question: When can I expect to get the home inspection report?
Answer: You can expect to get the report later the same day, or early the next day.
